Desk Officer for Europe & EU development grants

Läkarmissionen is in an expansive growth phase and is therefore looking for an experienced, structured, driven, innovative and analytical Desk Officer.


The Desk Officer will focus on EU development grants proposal writing, strategic partners relations and project design and administration in Eastern Europe. You will play a key role in shaping the future of LM International’s work in Eastern Europe and with EU development grants.


Roles and responsibilities


  • Responsible for LM International’s current partner and project portfolio in Eastern Europe (dialogue and administration such as concept notes, applications, budgets, reporting and follow-up etc.).
  • Responsible for the development of the current funding portfolio and the activities for our projects in Eastern Europe. 


  • Focal point for EU calls regarding project design, and coordinate these in dialogue with our regional offices, country offices and local implementing partners.
  • Coordinate, write, and quality-assure concept papers and applications to the EU in close collaboration with our regional offices, country offices and local implementing partners.
  • Ensure that programs and projects funded by the EU are in line with LM International’s vision, mission, strategy, and theory of change and with external donor requirements and guidelines.
  • Have an overall picture and control of the development programs and projects that we run together with the EU.
  • Responsibility for LM International’s dialogue with the EU regarding development funding.



  • Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the work (e.g. political science with a focus on development, international relations or economics).
  • 5 years of experience working in international development aid where the majority of this time consisted of working with Eastern Europe and EU development funding.
  • Fluent English, Spanish or French is also meritorious.
  • Vast experience in grant management including project design and proposal writing (applications, reporting and follow-up).
  • Experience in writing EU applications, with good results.
  • Good analytical skills and innovative thinking, good collaboration skills, structured and self-motivated.

About the position

  • Our starting point for all work is global justice, human rights, and equality.
  • The position is located at our global office in Vällingby and is part of the "Unit for Global Program Management & Europe".
  • 37,5-hour work week, health care allowance, work travels, agile and digital working methods.
  • Intended start of service: immediately or subject to availability.
  • Type of position: permanent employment (we apply a six-month probationary period).
